NCICU Distributes $60,000 in BB&T Scholarships to North Carolina Private Colleges

Raleigh, NC - North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) has distributed $60,000 in BB&T Scholarships at private colleges and universities in the state. Institutions award these scholarships on the basis of the students’ academic achievement and financial need.

St. Andrews University student Kerri Snipes received the award for the 2012-2013 academic year.

BB&T also distributed scholarships to students from Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Brevard College, Campbell University, Catawba College, Chowan University, Gardner-Webb University, Greensboro College, Guilford College, Lees-McRae College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Louisburg College, Mars Hill College, Meredith College, Methodist University, Montreat College, Mount Olive College, N.C. Wesleyan College, Pfeiffer University, Queens University of Charlotte, Salem College, Warren Wilson College, William Peace University, and Wingate University.

Jack Frost, Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at BB&T and Chairman of the Board for the Independent College Fund of North Carolina, expressed that "BB&T is delighted to support North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities and its scholarship program. NCICU and BB&T are very aligned in our support of education, and we're glad to assist these students in achieving their goals. It's part of our mission, making all of our communities better places to live."
