Coffman continues winning ways

St. Andrews University Director of Photography Rooney Coffman received two awards at the 2013 Grandfather Mountain Photography Workshop.

Coffman received second and third place in the category of photographs of animals in their natural habitat.

"This was the first time I entered the competition at the event," Coffman said. "They had sent a jump drive that needed to be returned so I decided to take the chance."

Coffman, who also serves as Director of Logistics at St. Andrews, has received multiple recognitions over the past year. The Rooney L. Coffman Science Sustaining Fund was created in his honor to support the science programs at St. Andrews and raised more than $30,000 since it was created. In addition, he was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Merit Award from the Alumni Council at St. Andrews in recognition for his continuing impact on students and alumni. In May, he was recognized for 45 years of continuous service to St. Andrews.

"Rooney is someone who has so much knowledge," said John Knesel, chair of natural and life science. "He is such an asset to St. Andrews and the science department. These recognitions are well deserved."
