St. Andrews Sunday celebration at Laurinburg Presbyterian Church Nov. 4

Laurinburg, N.C. – On Sunday Laurinburg Presbyterian Church and St. Andrews University will celebrate a long-standing connection with the annual St. Andrews Sunday worship service.

The service begins at 11 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

"The Presbyterian church is a connectional church," said Laurinburg Presbyterian Church Senior Pastor Neal Carter. "We belong to a people of faith that extends beyond ourselves. Laurinburg Presbyterian Church's connection to St. Andrews University is just another example of faith in action in a pragmatic matter. It is a worship service and a connection that we appreciate very deeply at LPC."

Service leadership will be provided by members of the St. Andrews community. The University's award winning pipe band will provide music for the service as will the University choir. Students, faculty and staff will participate in the service by reading scriptures and leading prayers.

The sermon will be given by Dr. Ron Crossley, retired professor of religious studies from St. Andrews.

Crossley first came to St. Andrews in 1968 as Assistant Professor of Religion and served for 16 years as a faculty member and administrator. He is a graduate of Samford University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Duke University's doctoral program in Christian theology and ethics. He currently serves as a guest lecturer in the St. Andrews Honors program, a teacher in the St. Andrews Institute of Lifelong Learning, a supply preacher and teacher in area churches, and a building volunteer with Scotland County's Habitat for Humanity.
