"As a first generation Latin American, it was different coming here, but I soon realized that I could just be me. St. Andrews is a school for people who like small classes and a close community."

Showing Under the Stars Friday at the SAPC Equestrian Center

Laurinburg, N.C. – This Friday members of the St. Andrews Presbyterian College equestrian program will participate in the April Showing Under the Stars Show.

Free and open to the public, the show begins at 4:15 p.m. and is expected to continue for about three hours. Drop-ins are allowed throughout the event.

“This type of horse show is unique in that during the show people will get to observe three different styles of riding including Hunter Seat over jumps, Dressage and Western,” said event manager and Hunt Seat Riding Instructor Heather Wile. “Within these three types of riding, we’ll have every level from very beginning community lesson children all the way through our senior competitors who will be jumping, riding musical freestyles and some small drill team work.”

Competitors will also be participating in game classes and trying new skills not typical from standard competitive events.

“It’s a great time for everyone who comes out to watch and also for those competing,” Wile said. “I think these horse shows truly put on display what the St. Andrews Equestrian Center is all about, learning new things, gaining confidence in ones self and learning to have fun in a competitive yet friendly and supportive atmosphere.”

The St. Andrews Equestrian Center is located on Hasty Road, approximately two miles from the College campus. For additional information about the event, call 910-276-7771.
