Knights Fest returns to St. Andrews

Laurinburg, N.C. – After a year’s hiatus, Knights Fest returns to St. Andrews Presbyterian College Oct. 22 – 23.

“Knights Fest brings together a variety of activities for the whole family,” said Stevan Hernandez, men’s soccer coach and event coordinator. “Sponsored by the St. Andrews Athletics Program, the events over a three day span allow members of the local community to enjoy campus activities alongside St. Andrews alumni, faculty, staff and students.”

The festivities begin with a golf outing at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22 at Scotch Meadows Country Club.

Saturday is the big day of activities for this fundraising event. The Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Walk/Run begins at 9 a.m. in front of the William Henry Belk College Center. The $20 registration fee includes a specially designed T-shirt. All proceeds from the event go to Passionately Pink for the Cure through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“Our coaches have worked together to create a schedule of alumni athletic competitions to allow our alumni guests to remember the joys of being a Knight,” Hernandez said. “We have a softball, baseball, lacrosse and basketball all holding games for alumni to participate in. We also have an outdoor wrestling showcase which will allow our guests to see one of our newer sports in action.”

Current St. Andrews soccer players will be taking the field in a women’s and men’s senior day doubleheader against conference foe Lees-McRae. Women take the field at 1 p.m. with the men scheduled for 3 p.m.

“We are also including Senior Day Recognition for members of our Cross Country teams during halftime of the women’s soccer game,” Hernandez said.

After the athletic activities of the day, the evening consists of an auction in the Belk Center. A silent auction will take place in the Belk Canter from 7 – 9 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres served.

“The auction is a specific fundraiser for the St. Andrews Athletics Department and will include items for everyone,” Hernandez said. “Previous auction items have included golf opportunities, vacation packages and spa visits.”
