The Women’s Issues Club has several activities planned for the spring. If you would like to help with any of the various activities, take a look at the list, check your schedule, and then get in touch with Betsy Dendy (5259 or dendybet@sapc.edu) or Veronica Gobeyn (gobeynva@sapc.edu) to let us know.

  • March 27 at 7:00 p.m. —“You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby” is a Women’s History Forum at Scotia Village featuring the life experiences of several Scotia residents. This event is in recognition of Women’s History Month. We’ll need help with publicity on campus, and we’ll need a receptive audience as these Scotia women share their stories.

  • April 18 at 8:00 p.m. —Candlelight Vigil to commemorate Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We’ll need volunteers to meet with representatives from the Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Center soon after spring break to make plans; then we’ll need help with publicity and we’ll need participants for the program.

  • April 22 from 12:00 until 6:00 —Sunday in the Park at Scotland Yard. DVRCC needs workers to help with their booth. They need 2 shifts of 6-8 people—one shift from 12:00 until 3:00 and one from 3:00 until 6:00. This involves helping children with a craft project and handing out materials.

  • April 28-May 3 —Collection of items (clothing, small appliances/furniture, cosmetic products) to donate to DVRCC or other community groups. We’ll need help publicizing, gathering the stuff to be taken away, and being sure that our collection area is cleaned up before Baccalaureate and Graduation.

Please watch for updates as our project progresses. Also, if you have other ideas for projects or activities, we’d love to hear them.
