Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics
"I work as an EFL teacher at the Language Department of the University of Cuenca, which is located in Cuenca city in Ecuador. The Language Department offers eight levels of English as a Foreign Language, and the students of this University are required to take three semesters (which corresponds to the first three levels) of English as a requirement for graduation. However, it is possible for them to continue improving their level of English by taking the rest of the courses, and in fact, a lot of students choose to do that not only because they need to read a lot of information such as research papers, scientific books, journals, and the like (which are in English), but also because they want to apply for Master’s degrees or PhD programs abroad.
During this fall semester, I hope I help my Spanish students to be able to maintain conversations with native speakers of this language as well as to understand their culture. In addition, I would like to encourage my students to take advantage of the interchange program to Ecuador, so that they can practice and improve their Spanish."
