DeTamble Library Facility

The three-story DeTamble Library provides access to online resources, newspapers, hundreds of periodicals and thousands of print and electronic books.

The Library was constructed in 1964 through a legacy to the First Presbyterian Church of Winston-Salem from the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeTamble and funds from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation and the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation. The 16,384 square foot structure was enlarged in 1995 to 18,168 square feet with a gift from the Neill Alexander and Augusta Evans Currie Memorial Library Trust Fund.

The first floor includes the Information Desk, public computers, reference/research areas with comfortable seating areas and the Scottish Heritage Center. That Center provides displays, resources, materials and artifacts on the Scottish heritage and traditions of the early settlers of the area.

The second floor holds current and older periodicals, the Children’s Literature collection, the Leisure Reading collection, computers, meeting and group study space as well as study carrels at each window. The microfilm and microfiche collections and equipment are also located on this floor.

The third floor houses the majority of the book collection as well as the College Archives. The third floor is also home to the Hal and Delores Sieber Ezra Pound Collection, books and materials pertaining to the imprisonment and trial of Ezra Pound by the author of the Congressional investigative report on Pound.
