TIME: It
is best to plan ahead when requesting articles and books through interlibrary
loan! It generally takes 1-2 weeks to receive requested materials.
There is no way of knowing exactly when your item will arrive; however,
the staff can check the status of your request to see if it has been
shipped. It is important that you specify on your form the latest date
you need the material. Articles can be faxed if there is an immediate
need.
RENEWALS: All
books have a due date when they must be returned to the lending library.
If you need to keep the book longer, you must request a renewal before
the due date. Contact Mary McDonald (mhm@sapc.edu or
277-5023) for renewals. Please note that some libraries do not grant
renewals.
RESTRICTIONS: Sometimes
lending libraries specify restrictions on their materials such as
in "Library Use Only." All restrictions must be honored.
NOTIFICATION: Students,
faculty, and staff will be notified through campus e-mail as soon
as materials arrive in the library. All materials are to be picked
up at the circulation desk during normal library hours. Please pick
up your materials as soon as possible after you are notified.
COPYRIGHT
RESTRICTIONS: "The copyright law of the United States (Title
17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other
reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain provisions
specified in the law, libraries and other archives are authorized
to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these conditions
is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be 'used for any
purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.' If
the user makes a request for and later uses a copy or reproduction
for purposes in excess of 'fair use,' that user may be liable for
copyright infringement." DeTamble Library reserves the right to
refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, the fulfillment
of the order would involve violations of copyright law.
