Equine Studies / Therapeutic Riding Faculty

         Bradford Woods operates 10 weeks of summer camp for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses. They hire a staff of 70-80 individuals and are currently recruiting for the summer of 2007. Bradford Woods has proven to be an excellent opportunity for students in the field of Therapeutic Recreation, Special Education, Pre-Med, Nursing, Allied Health, Speech Therapy, Outdoor Education, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Therapeutic Riding and other Equine Assisted Activities, as well as many other areas of study. Bradford Woods has also served as an internship and practicum site for many students. they welcome the opportunity to examine this type of partnership with the professors and students within your department.

       As a NARHA Certified Instructor it excites me that Bradford Woods partners with Agape Therapeutic Riding Center, a NARHA Premier Accredited Center to provide a barn experience for campers.  Located on a portion of Bradford Woods’ 2,500 acres are an eight stall horse barn, pastures, outdoor arena, and trails.  Each year we hire barn specific program staff and side walkers who help with or lead the facilitation of both mounted and unmounted activities as well as assist with the management, training and care of six to eight equines as well as a variety of other animals. We also hire a Barn Director and Assistant Director (NARHA Certified Instructor or Instructor in Training) to work closely with both Agape and the summer camp leadership team to provide the best experience possible for both campers and staff.

Life Guard in N. Myrtle Beach, SC

Under regular supervision, performs responsible life-saving work in the Beach Services Division.  Work involves using independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures.  Reports to the Director of Public Safety or his designee.  Must be able to obtain certification as a lifeguard by meeting United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) minimum standards or be Red Cross Certified.  Successfully complete certification in one-person adult, two-person adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), including obstructed airway training. Camp Counselor/ Riding Instructor

Falling Creek Camp is a traditional summer camp for boys. It is located in the mountains of Western North Carolina near the town of Tuxedo, Falling Creek is a community of 224 campers and over 70 staff. Sessions range from 5 days to 29 days for campers 6-16 years old. Falling Creek is accredited by the American Camp Association.
