LAURINBURG, N.C.—The Fayetteville State University women’s tennis team defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 7-2 in NCAA Division II women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Scotland County Tennis Complex.
The doubles team of sophomore Charleen Cook (Riverside, Calif.) and freshman Carrie Jones (Spring Hope, N.C.) remain perfect on the season at 3-0 winning the No. 3 match 9-8 (7-3). Cook provided the Knights with their second point of the day with her first singles win of the year at No. 4. Cook won her battle in a third-set super tie-breaker (6-1, 4-6, 10-8).
The Knights (0-3) will open up Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play on Sunday when they host Anderson University at 1:00 p.m.
