St. Andrews women's netters fall at Catawba

LAURINBURG, N.C.—Sophomore Charleen Cook (Riverside, Calif.) and freshman Carrie Jones (Spring Hope, N.C.) teamed up to win their second straight doubles match to start 2007, but host Catawba College defeated St. Andrews Presbyterian College 8-1 in women’s tennis action on Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.

The Lady Indians won two of three doubles and swept the singles matches without dropping a set to improve to 5-3 on the year. The Lady Knights fall to 0-2.

Cook and Jones posted the 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles.

St. Andrews hosts non-conference Fayetteville State University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Scotland County Tennis Complex.
