St. Andrews women's tennis drops 7-2 match at Anderson
March 31, 2006 ANDERSON, SC—Sophomore Kellie Milam (Emporia, KS) won both of her matches on Friday, but host Anderson University spoiled the trek with a 7-2 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women’s tennis victory at the Max Grubbs Memorial Courts. The Lady Trojans, who snapped a nine-match losing streak, improved to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in the CVAC. The Knights fell to 2-11 and 1-5. Milam and freshman Rachel Hanna (Concord, NH) teamed up for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles. The Milam/Hanna combination has improved to 4-3 on the season for the Knights. Freshmen Ashley Walters (St. Pauls, NC) and Morgan Worthington (Kinston, NC) dropped a close 8-5 match at No. 1. Milam, who holds a 6-7 mark in singles play, took out Anderson’s No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Senior April Rowe (Elizabeth City, NC) went the distance before falling 6-4, 2-6, 10-3. St. Andrews turns around and visits CVAC rival and No. 23 nationally ranked Erskine College on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Singles Doubles |
