Knights' netters fall at Mount Olive, 9-0

MOUNT OLIVE , NC—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s tennis team dropped a 9-0 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference match at Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Trojans improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CVAC while the Knights dropped to 0-4 and 0-2.

In singles action, Knights No. 1 freshman Ashley Walters (St. Paul's, NC) won two games against CVAC reigning Player of the Year Lucia Henkle. However, Henkle won the match 6-1, 6-1.

Morgan Worthington fell at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-2); Kellie Milam lost at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0); Charleen Cook dropped the point at No. 4 (6-0, 6-3); April Rowe was swept at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0); and Shannon Hitzeman was defeated at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).

The Knights next closest chance at a point came at No. 3 doubles, where Milam and Tanya Darmanie just fell short (8-5). Walters and Worthington lost 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Cook and Rowe fell 8-1 at No. 2.

The Knights visit CVAC foe Queens University of Charlotte on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
