Milam leads SAPC tennis against Fayetteville State

FAYETTEVILLE, NC—Sophomore Kellie Milam (Emporia, KS) recorded the only points for St. Andrews at No. 3 singles, as the Knights lost an 8-1 non-conference women’s tennis match at Fayetteville State on Saturday.

The Lady Broncos improved to 1-3 on the season while the Knights dropped to 0-3.

The SAPC doubles pairs of No. 1 Ashley Walters/Morgan Worthington and No. 2 Charleen Cook/April Rowe each lost close games of 8-5 while No. 3 doubles tandem of Milam/Tanya Darmanie lost 8-2.

Milam earned the Knights sole point with a 7-6, 3-6 (12-10) victory over LeJacquelyn Artist. No. 1 Walters dropped a 6-3, 6-2 match; No. 2 Worthington fell 6-2, 6-1; No. 4 Cook lost 6-1, 6-0; No. 5 Rowe suffered a 6-2, 6-2 loss; and No. 6 Shannon Hitzeman was conquered 6-4, 6-1.

The Knights visit CVAC rival Mount Olive on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
