Rick Parlow enters his first season as the St. Andrews University Women's Soccer Head Coach after being hired in February of 2012. Coach Rick Parlow joined the SAU staff after most recently working as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Mount Olive College. While at Mount Olive, Parlow developed the team’s strength and conditioning plan, trained goal keepers, and became an active part of player recruitment, in addition to many other duties. Parlow devoted some of his time during the 2011-2012 season to the Wayne County United Soccer Club by serving as the Director of Coaching. Coach Parlow stayed busy in 2011 as he also acted as an assistant coach/goalkeeper trainer for the North Carolina ODP 95 Girls squad. Rick spent time coaching overseas in Berlin, Germany, when his coaching abilities earned him the assistant coach position with Hertha 03 U19 Men-German Bundesliga A in 2009-2010. Before heading to Germany, Parlow spent time as the Boston Renegades W-League assistant coach in 2009; after working as the assistant coach at High Point University during the 2008-2009 season. Coach Parlow dedicated six years of his coaching career to Stones River Futbol Camp in Smyrna, TN. While at Stones River, Parlow worked as a director of goalkeeping and as a head coach; guiding two previously winless teams to the state finals within two years. Coach Parlow has attained an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and an NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, both on top of the National Diplomas he has in each area. He has also earned his NSCAA Director of Coaching Certificate. Parlow earned a Bachelors of University Studies with a concentration in Business, English, and Speech from Middle Tennessee State University. During his time at Middle Tennessee, Parlow was a starting goalkeeper for the Blue Raiders Men’s Soccer team from 1992-1995, a Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity member, and a Senator in the Student Government Association. Parlow and his wife, Megan Parlow, currently reside in Goldsboro, NC.

In his time at St. Andrews, Coach Hernandez has also served as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team, 2008-2011, and as the interim head coach of the women's soccer team for the spring 2010 semester. Coach Hernandez also works closely with the other Knights athletics programs as a strength & conditioning coach and manages the weight room facilities on campus. Hernandez joined the Knights staff after graduating from Richmond Community College with an Associate’s Degree in business administrations in 2008. Hernandez continued to work towards his Bachelor’s Degree while coaching at SAU and earned a BA in Sports and Recreation at St. Andrews in 2010. Hernandez is currently pursuing a master's degree in physical education at UNC Pembroke. The Bronx, New York, native brings a local connection to the SAU hoops program having played for the Laurinburg Institute basketball team in 2003/04. Prior to that, Hernandez played high school and club basketball in New York City. Hernandez currently resides in Laurinburg. |
