Women's Soccer Coaching Staff
Stevan Hernandez
Head Coach

Stevan Hernandez enters his third season as the men's soccer head coach at St. Andrews. Also, Hernandez has once again taken over the women's program and will enter his sixth season with the Lady Knights.

In 2005, Hernandez led the St. Andrews men’s soccer team to its best season in the college’s NCAA Division II era with a 9-8-1 overall record and a sixth place finish in the CVAC with a 5-4-1 ledger. The Knights ranked nationally in D-II as one of the top-10 most improved teams. Hernandez coached three All-CVAC honorees and one All-Southeast Region selection in ’05.

Hernandez also currently serves on the NCAA and NSCAA Southeast Regional ranking committee.

Hernandez joined the Knight athletic staff in the summer of 1998. He began his tenure as head softball coach in the spring of 1999 and assumed the responsibilities of coaching the re-instated women’s soccer program in the fall of that same year. Hernandez coached the women's soccer program for five years and led the Knights to their first CVAC playoff birth in 2003. Hernandez moved from the women’s team to the men’s in February of 2004.

Hernandez is also a member of the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Regional Advisory Committee for the Southeast Region.

Hernandez earned a Bachelor of Science in recreation administration from Wingate University in 1997 and is currently completing his masters’ degree in Physical Education at UNC Pembroke. Hernandez holds his advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Hernandez married Elizabeth Bowden in July of 2004 and they reside in Pinebluff, NC.

   
   
Leto Alibaruho
Associate Head Coach
Leto Alibaruho joins the St. Andrews athletics department as Associate Head Coach of the Knights men’s and women’s soccer programs in August of 2006.

Alibaruho spent the past two seasons as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Newberry College in South Carolina.

The Uganda native has built a strong coaching resume with multiple prior experiences including Capital Area Soccer League (CASL), the New River United SA. Alibaruho has also coached at various camps including the Hokie Soccer Academy, the Clemson Soccer Academy and the UNC-Chapel Hill Soccer Camp.

Alibaruho played at Virginia Tech from 1995 to 1997. In 1996 and 1997 he was voted VT Defensive Player of the Year. In 1997 Alibaruho earned Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference honors. Virginia Tech won the Atlantic 10 regular season championship in 1997 and was ranked as high as 14th nationally.

In 1998 Alibaruho trained with Ugandan champions SC Villa F.C. In 1999 and 2000 played for two seasons with the Roanoke Wrath of the USL D3 Pro League.

Alibaruho holds an Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Alibaruho graduated from his Alma Mater with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1997. He currently resides in Laurinburg, N.C.
