Box Score

Wingate, NC- St. Andrews women’s soccer faced an incredibly strong defense as they were unable to find an open spot on the field from which to take a shot at the Bulldogs of Wingate University in this evening's competition. The inability to invade the box led the Knights to an 0-6 loss to Wingate, giving the Bulldogs their fifth straight victory.

The Knights (1-9 Overall) saw the most action in the goal, with Katie Jaskulski (Orlando, FL) and Hannah Platt (Burgaw, NC) saving half of the shots on goal that were taken by the Bulldogs (6-2 Overall). Jaskulski started the game for SAU and snagged four saves in her 27:32 minutes in the goal. Coming in for the remainder of the game, Platt grabbed two of the four balls that were blasted at the goal.

Each goal for the Bulldogs was scored by a different player, showing the depth Wingate boasts in their roster this season. Jade Montgomery started things off for WU by placing the ball in the net just outside of Jaskulski’s reach. Within the next 15:00 minutes of play, three more Bulldogs found the net. Kelly Adams, Chandler Murphy, and Chelsey Horan each added a goal for Wingate en route to a 0-4 lead over St. Andrews after 45:00 minutes of play.

Wingate started off strong in the second half and scored their final two goals less than three minutes after play resumed. Hannah Holsclaw led the way, putting up the fifth goal of the game. Holsclaw continued to work hard and found teammate Shelby Forza in position up the field and led Forza to a goal with a pass through the St. Andrews defenders.

For more soccer action, stop by Knights Field on the campus of St. Andrews University on Thursday, October 6 at 2:00 PM. The Crusaders of North Greenville University travel to Laurinburg and go up against the Blue and White for what promises to be an exciting Conference Carolinas women’s soccer game.
