Box Score

Belmont, NC- Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer saw an exciting day as Belmont Abbey College hosted the Knights of St. Andrews this afternoon. Fans watched a close battle between the Crusaders and the Knights as there was only one goal during the 90:00 minutes of play. The Knights’ hard work could not keep Belmont Abbey out of the box as they claimed the win over the Knights 0-1.

SA (0-6 Conference, 1-7 Overall) only found their way to the goal with enough time to fire off a shot once against the Crusaders (4-0 Conference, 4-4 Overall). Heather Cockburn (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) used her speed to take the Knights’ only shot of the game. The Crusaders’ ball handling led them to face-off with Katie Jaskulski (Orlando, FL) 16 times, giving the rookie keeper 15 saves to add to her total.

The only ball that got by Jaskulski was booted by Crusader sophomore Ananda Gebreyesus. The Alameda, California native posted the only goal of the game after 66 minutes of play. However, the Crusaders cannot say that they did not try to score; as a team, the squad shot 28 times total, over half of which were potential points for Belmont Abbey.

The Knights head for Tennessee on Saturday, October 1 to take on the King College Tornado. Starting line-ups will be announced just prior to the 1:00 PM start time.
