Brown, Burton, and Frazer named All-Conference

November 8, 2007

LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College junior forward Kerrie Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) was named to the women’s soccer All-Conference Second Team while teammates junior Garrison Burton (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshman Sam Frazer (Goldsboro, N.C.) were also honored as All-Conference selections on the Honorable Mention list.

Conference Carolinas announced the All-Conference teams at the Honors Banquet Luncheon during this weekend's Conference Carolinas Championship Soccer Tournament. The banquet was held at the Murphy Regional Center on the Mount Olive College campus as they play host for the tournament championship for the second consecutive year. Head Coaches from conference member institutions nominate and then vote upon the award winners who represent the best of the best for the conference.

Brown, a junior college transfer, earned her second team All-Conference recognition after leading St. Andrews with seven goals, four assists, and 18 points. Brown averaged one point per game for the Lady Knights in 18 outings. Brown -- who scored game-winning goals against North Greenville, Queens, and Erskine – had at least one point in seven different games. Brown was named the Conference Carolinas women’s soccer Player of the Week on October 16 for helping the Knights extend an unbeaten streak to seven games with three goals and two assists during that week.

Burton , the Lady Knights starting goalkeeper for a third straight season, received her first Conference Carolinas award this year as an All-Conference Honorable Mention honoree. Burton played every minute in net for St. Andrews this season posting an impressive 1.37 goals against average and a .794 save percentage. Burton had seven wins on the season including six shutouts. Burton had shutouts in five straight conference contests against Barton, Converse, Limestone, Coker, and Lees-McRae. Burton was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on October 9 for recording a streak of over seven hours of shutout goaltending.

Frazer, a freshman utility player, garnered her first All-Conference acknowledgement with her strong play in her freshman season. Frazer helped secure seven victories and four ties for the Lady Knights by playing on defense late in games. Frazer and St. Andrews played in 13 one-goal games this season and her presence on defense helped the Knights to their best-ever finish in the conference with a league ledger of 4-4-3 and 15 points. Frazer also had a game-winning goal against Converse and a pair of assists on the season for four points.
