Lady Knights and Saints soccer draw to scoreless tie

LAURINBURG, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s soccer team extended its Conference Carolinas unbeaten streak to three games with a 0-0 double overtime tie against visiting Limestone College on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Knights, who played their fourth overtime game of the season, maintain 2-5-2 overall record and a 1-2-2 mark in the conference. Saturday’s tie was the second time this season SAPC has played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer against a Conference Carolinas opponent. The Saints are 3-6-2 and 2-2-2.

Limestone held a slim 11-9 shot advantage but St. Andrews out shot the visitors 7-3 in the second half. SAPC edged the Saints 3-2 on corner kicks.

Both squads goalkeepers made three saves to preserve the shutouts. Knights junior Garrison Burton (Atlanta, Ga.) earned her third shutout in her last four games with three saves for the hosts. Sophomore Brittany Clark (York, S.C.) had the trio of stops for the Saints.

Senior Crystal Olu-Taylor (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Jodi Frazier (Lexington, N.C.) each had good shots on goal for the Knights in the second half.

St. Andrews hosts non-conference North Carolina Wesleyan tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
