GREENSBORO, N.C.—Junior goalkeeper Garrison Burton (Atlanta, Ga.) made a game-high nine saves, but host Greensboro College pulled out a 1-0 collegiate women’s soccer victory over visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Ashley Cabral scored the only goal of the match to lift the undefeated Pride (2-0) past the Lady Knights (0-2). Sophomore Tessa Hall assisted on Cabral’s goal just 39 seconds into the second half.

Junior netminder Shana Saganich made saves on all three SAPC shots on goal to earn the shutout for the hosts.

Greensboro out shot St. Andrews, 14-7, and took all seven corner kicks in the contest.

The Knights seven shots come from seven different players. Senior Jodi Frazier (Lexington, N.C.), junior Kerrie Brown (Rochester, N.Y.), and freshman Marie Savage (Lyons, N.Y.) each put a shot on frame for St. Andrews but Saganich made the save all three times.

Burton made five of her nine stops in the first half to keep the match scoreless in the first 45 minutes.

St. Andrews will open Conference Carolinas play at Anderson University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
