Lady Bulldogs soccer blanks St. Andrews, 5-0

LAURINBURG, NC—Jordan Carter recorded a hat trick leading Barton College to a 5-0 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women’s soccer victory over host St. Andrews Presbyterian College Tuesday.

The Lady Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 5 in the Southeast Region, improved to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the CVAC while the Knights fell to 0-8 and 0-5.

Eboni Nichols started the scoring for Barton in the 12th minute, stealing the ball from a St. Andrews defender and converting on the takeaway. Nichols also assisted on Carter’s first goal in the 30th minute to give the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 halftime lead.

Carter added second half goals in the 52nd and 75th minutes to complete the hat trick. Tara Davis had Barton’s other goal. Patricia Acosta, Ashley Ernst, and Jessica Galasso all had assists in the second frame.

Ashley Ross picked up the win in net for the Lady Bulldogs without making a save.

Knights’ goalie Garrison Burton stopped nine of Barton’s 27 shots. St. Andrews best scoring chance came late when Brittany Forrest rattled a direct kick off the Bulldogs right goalpost.

St. Andrews visits CVAC rival Coker on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. while Barton entertains CVAC foe Limestone at 1:00 p.m.
