Lady Pacers defeat St. Andrews, 4-0

September 6, 2005

LAURINBURG, NC—Junior Melissa Schnoering scored two goals to lead the visiting USC Aiken women’s soccer team to a 4-0 victory over host St. Andrews Presbyterian College Tuesday.

Knights’ freshman goalkeeper Rita Brown (Huntington Beach, CA) made 12 saves in her first collegiate game but USCA still found the net four times.

The Lady Pacers (2-0) held a 25-3 shot advantage over St. Andrews (0-2).

Schnoering wasted no time getting the Lady Pacers on the board punching in a Robin Smith shot that went off the Knights crossbar only 2:32 into the contest.

Natasha DaCosta made some great dribbling moves around the Knights defense to score Aiken’s second goal at the 21:27 mark. Kristi Desrosiers converted on a loose ball that was bounced around after a corner kick in the 29th minute to give the Lady Pacers a 3-0 halftime lead.

Schnoering completed the scoring for Aiken with her fourth goal of the season by stuffing in a Kristi Desrosiers crossing pass into the far corner.

Pacer goalie Jacquelynn Hart only needed to make one save for the shutout.

The Knights host Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference rival Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
