June 6, 2005
LAURINBURG, NC—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's soccer program is proud to announce the signing of ten quality student-athletes to national letters of intent for the fall of 2005.
Second year head coach Elizabeth Hernandez is bringing in 10 student-athletes from seven different states to add to a young and improving Knights roster. “All are strong student-athletes that should do well both on the field and in the classroom,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez inked three goalkeepers including Rita Brown (CA), Garrison Burton (GA) and Kelli Hunter (MD). All three are extremely talented players and are expected to have an immediate impact on the program. Garrison will also be looked to as a valuable field player.
Jodi Frazier, Brittany Forest, Kaley Rouse and Michelle Phelps are all products of North Carolina and will add depth and breadth in the back and throughout the midfield of the pitch. Frazier and Forest will bring an added dimension to the offense of the Knights.
Kelsey Binggeli joins the Knights from her home in New York State, where she is duel sports athlete who will also compete on the women's lacrosse team at St. Andrews. Binggeli will add strength and toughness in the center of the field.
Alexis Fountaine (VA) and Rachel Hanna (NH) are both talented players that Hernandez expects will add depth to the Knights roster.
“From back to front, we have strengthened all aspects of our game with the incoming freshman,” continued Hernandez. “Several of the freshmen will battle for starting roles and will help push our returnees to the next level. We will be able to play an attractive, attacking style of soccer that will start from our keepers."
