Knights Face Braves on MatsJanuary 25, 2012 Pembroke, NC- The St. Andrews wrestling team traveled to Pembroke this evening to take on the Braves of UNC Pembroke for the sixth consecutive year. The Braves showed how they achieved their 17 th place ranking as they took down the Knights 35-6 at the conclusion of tonight’s dual meet.
The Knights, who are now 3-6 overall in duals, claimed an early victory as UNC Pembroke did not send in a contender to face Chauncey Foster (Hampton, VA) at 125 lbs. Despite the early lead, SAU could not get a hold on the Braves with Sterling Perry (Hampton, VA; 133), Steffan Baker (Poquoson, VA; 174), and Denny Vaughan (Dinwiddie, VA; 285) each dropping by decision. Eric Brown (Norfolk, VA; 133), Nick Sauceda (Virginia Beach, VA; 149), Kody Getkin (Danville, PA; 157), Joshua Price (Fayetteville, NC; 184), and Greg Pattis (Pinehurst, NC; 197) all found themselves defeated by a major decision. Luke Gregory (Greensboro, NC) met No. 3 Mike Williams in the circle at 165 lbs. Halfway through the first period, Gregory had gotten into a tight spot and fell by pin. St. Andrews will host the Apprentice School and East Carolina University on Saturday, February 4. Grab your seats early for the 2:00 PM event as the tri-meet promises to be full of excitement.
