PEMBROKE, N.C.—The University of North Carolina at Pembroke wrestling team scored five pin falls en route to a 58-0 victory over visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Thursday night in the English E. Jones Center.

The Knights (2-6) forfeited three weight classes while sending three grapplers to the mat for their first dual matches of the season. The Braves (3-6) added a pair of technical falls early to their five pins to run up the score to 58 points out of a possible 60.

In the first two matches of the evening, a pair of nationally ranked Braves tallied tech falls to give UNCP an early 10-0 advantage. Freshmen lightweight Eric Brown (Norfolk, Va.) lost to the No. 7 ranked wrestler in the country, 22-7, while classmate Casey Gashaw (Laurinburg, N.C.) was defeated, 23-8, by the No. 6 ranked grappler in the nation.

The final five matches that went to the mat resulted in pin falls by Pembroke. Freshmen 141-lb Troy Baranik (Laurinburg, N.C.) and 165-lb Andy Roberto (Holly Ridge, N.C.) were both pinned in the first round. Baranik was finished off in 2:27 while Roberto, in his first collegiate match, was downed in 2:06.

Senior 165-lb Brian Roznowski (Yorktown, Va.) was only trailing 3-2 after the first period in his first match of the season, but was pinned early in the next round at the 3:26 mark.

Sophomore 174-lb Will Harcum (Williamsburg, Va.) looked to give the Knights its best shot at a win but a late mistake resulted in a pin fall loss at 5:49. Harcum held a 7-2 lead after the first round with a pair of takedowns and a three-point near fall. Harcum still hung onto a slim lead after two rounds but was finally taken down and pinned in the third.

In the final match, heavyweight Andre Ellerbe (Laurinburg, N.C.) was also pinned in the middle round at 4:02.

St. Andrews hosts Spartanburg Methodist College on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in their final home dual match of the 2007/08 season.
