St. Andrews alumna Katie Rhodes, ‘10, has joined the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach under Head Coach Laura Maness.

“I am eager for Katie to join the Titan Lacrosse coaching staff,” Maness explained. “Katie has a lot of great ideas that will help improve our program. Her hardworking mentality and commitment to the growth of lacrosse will benefit the surrounding lacrosse communities. She will help make the overall experience for our student-athletes a great one.”

Rhodes worked as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at St. Andrews Presbyterian College under Head Coach Kati Robbins during the 2010 season. Rhodes had many responsibilities while coaching at St. Andrews, such as helping with recruiting, developing off-season conditioning workouts, and creating fundraising activities.

“Katie is going to be a great addition to the University of Detroit Mercy Lacrosse staff, just as she was at St. Andrews.  I could not be more proud of her as she reaches this milestone in her career. The St. Andrews Community and I wish her all the best as she begins her new endeavor.  I look forward to following her coaching career at Detroit Mercy,” says Kati Robbins.

Rhodes received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts at Cayuga Community College and also earned a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 2010.

As a student-athlete at St. Andrews, Rhodes contributed to the women’s lacrosse program for two seasons, after transferring to St. Andrews from Cayuga C.C. (NY). Rhodes’ impressive play led her to a starting position in every game that she played in at St. Andrews. Her tactful defensive skills earned her a spot on the Second Team All-Conference in 2009. While at St. Andrews, Rhodes played in a total of 37 games, earning one goal, two assists, three points, 32 draw controls, 35 caused turnovers, and 59 ground balls.

I am very excited to start my first year with the Titans women’s lacrosse program. I am looking forward to working with Coach Maness and all of the ladies on the squad. This is a great opportunity for me in my career as a coach and I would like to extend my gratitude to Coach Maness and the University of Detroit Mercy for giving me this chance to work at the NCAA Division I level,” says Rhodes.
