Laurinburg, N.C. – St. Andrews Presbyterian College has two women’s lacrosse seniors that will cap their collegiate careers in the IWLCA North-South All-Star Game. Lady Knights’ midfielder Kim McDaniel (Joppa, MD) and goalkeeper Morgan Achilles (Geneva, NY) will compete in the game that will be played on June 11, 2011 at 1:00pm at the United Sports Center, Downingtown PA.
Divisions I, II, III will each have an All-Star game, and the games are being highlighted during the IWLCA Champions Cup Recruiting tournament. Friday evening the IWLCA will be hosting a banquet to honor the 2011 All-Americans as well the 2011 North South Senior All-Star Teams. McDaniel and Achilles will be playing alongside other seniors from the South Region and many players from Conference Carolinas.
“Kim and Morgan were the heart and soul of the lacrosse program for four and two years respectively. Being named to the North South Senior All Star game is a great way for these two ladies to culminate their collegiate careers. I am excited to see them play in Downingtown and representing Conference Carolinas and St Andrews.” said Kati Robbins, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach.
Kim McDaniel has been a four year starter for the Lady Knights Lacrosse program. In the 2011 season, McDaniel scored 42 goals, 21 assists, 63 points, 58 ground balls, 43 draw controls, and 15 caused turnovers. Her career at St. Andrews has been an impressive one that has left her breaking program records such as leading in career goals with 137. Another notable record is second in career assists with 53, also on top in total career points with 190. Two more noteworthy records are second in career draw controls with 96 and tied for fourth in career caused turnovers with 26.
Morgan Achilles has been a two year starter, coming to St. Andrews from Monroe Community College. Achilles has been a force in goal for the Lady Knights. In the 2011 season, Achilles had to play some of the season as a defender, but most of the season was spent in cage. She finished the season with 557 minutes in goal, 10.45 goal average, 92 saves, and 48.7 save percentage. In the two years at St. Andrews Achilles put her name in the record books with 264 career saves, putting her second in schools history. Another impressive record is being second in career save percentage with a 46.2%. The last record that she has accomplished is second in career goal against average with 11.65.
