Charlotte, N.C. – The Lady Knights (2-8, 0-2) took to the road Wednesday afternoon as they took on the Queens University Royals (5-5, 2-0) in a Conference Carolinas match up. Things did not go particularly well for the Lady Knights, while the Royals seemed to be firing on all cylinders leading to an eventual Knights defeat by the score of 18-11.

St. Andrews came out and tried to kill the Royals spirit early by going up 4-0 only three minutes into the game. Leading the Lady Knights early surge was Megan Jolly (Waterloo, NY) who had two goals while Brett Vyverberg (Pittsford, NY) and Kim McDaniel (Joppa, MD) added one goal each themselves. The Lady Knights offense started to fizzle out while Queens really picked theirs up going on to score twelve goals in the half while St. Andrews put up only seven.

The Lady Knights needed defensive stops in the second half and could not seem to find them as both teams continued to trade goals not bringing the score any closer for the Knights. The game ended as Queens scored their last goal with fourteen seconds left making the final score 18-11 in favor of Royals. Standing out for St. Andrews were Megan Jolly (Waterloo, NY) who finished with a game high six goals, Kim McDaniel (Joppa, MD) added three goals, while Bret Vyverberg (Pittsford, NY) and Allie Faulhaber (Apex, NC) each chipped in with one goal apiece. On the defensive side of the ball the Lady Knights were lead by Morgan Achilles who had 16 saves, faced 44 shots, and picked up seven ground balls. The Lady Knights take the field next when they play Converse College at home on Saturday, game starting at 1 p.m. and again on Sunday when they play Lenoir Rhyne University for Senior Day, game starting at 3 p.m.
