Laurinburg N.C. – The Lady Knights Lacrosse team came up short Wednesday trying to reach back to back wins for the first time this season while facing the visiting Slippery Rock College. In the first half the Knights found themselves in an up-hill battle due to the relentless offensive attack applied by The Rock. The Knights tried to fight back but only managed to get off thirteen shots on goal in the first half while Slippery rock attempted nineteen. At the half St. Andrews found themselves behind with a score of 11-5.

The second half proved to be a better one for the Knights defensively as they held their opponent to only twelve shots on goal while matching them with twelve of their own and scoring on five of those. Though in the end, Slippery Rock proved to be too much for our Lady Knights as they suffered a 19-10 defeat.

Leading the Knights in goals were Senior Kim McDaniel, (Joppa, MD) and Sophomore Megan Jolly, (Waterloo, NY) who both finished with three to go along with Jolly’s two assists. Brett Vyverberg, (Pittsford, NY) Chelsea Ross, (Newark, NY) Allie Faulhaber, (Apex, NC) and Anna Egeln, (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) rounded out the rest of the Knights scoring by each of them adding one goal respectively.

The Lady Knights worked hard on defense by causing twelve turnovers. Shana Schroeder (Newark, NY) had the team high as she caused three and picked up four ground balls. Morgan Achilles (Geneva, NY) and Ramsey Vogt (Erhard, MN) both caused two, with Vogt (Erhard, MN) picking up the team high ground balls 6, Achilles (Geneva, NY) picked up four. The Lady Knights take the field again on Saturday against Bloomsburg College at Anne Arundel CC in Arnold, MD at 3 p.m.
