LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College sophomore Kerrie Brown (Irondequoit, N.Y.) was named to the 2008 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region Second Team on Thursday.
Brown, a 2008 Conference Carolinas All-Conference selection, was honored with the All-Region award after posting a record setting season for the Lady Knights.
Brown finished her second season at SAPC with 68 goals, 21 assists, and 89 points (all new single-season school records). The sophomore attack was named the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on February 27 after setting new St. Andrews records of seven assists and 10-points in a game. Brown finished the year ranked second in the conference and 12th nationally with 3.58 goals per game. Brown also ranked third in the league and 18th nationally with 4.68 points/game. Brown scored in 18-of-19 games in ’08 and led SAPC with 48 draw controls.
Brown’s strong play helped the Lady Knights to a program-best seven wins in 2008 including the teams first-ever playoff win against a preseason top-10 nationally ranked opponent.
Brown was a first-team All-Conference selection and 2007 All-American Rookie team honoree in her freshman season.
The IWLCA has honored 64 student-athletes in Division II with a selection on one of the All-Regional teams for 2008. These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 29. The
IWLCA and US Lacrosse will honor the National All-Americans at an awards banquet on June 14, 2008 in Downingtown, Pa.
