BELMONT, N.C.—Four Crusaders scored three goals each as the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three with a 20-10 win over visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Tuesday afternoon. The Crusaders improve to 10-6 overall and 6-3 in Conference Carolinas, while the Lady Knights fall to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in Conference Carolinas.
The Abbey outshot St. Andrews 40-22 as Kerri Gut, Laurie Jordan, Kristyn Kinsey and Meghan Darley all scored three goals. Tara Chmil, Brianna Dignan and Shannon Farden each added a pair, while Samantha Hooker and Stephanie Schwartz both had one each.
Chmil and Dignan led the way with four assists, while Gut finished with a pair. Jordan, Kinsey and Theresa Nolan all had one.
St. Andrews was led by Kerrie Brown's five goals, while Kelsey Binggeli added a pair. Brown leads St. Andrews with 58 goals and 74 points.
Alexis Goldman, Kim McDaniel, and Jill Donofrio netted the Knights other goals. Katie Wright and Katie Rhodes each supplied one assist for SAPC.
Defensively, Chmil led the Abbey with two caused turnovers and five ground balls, while Nolan and Jordan both finished with three as the Crusaders finished with 25 on the afternoon. Kate Gavin made five saves in the net.
BAC led 13-7 at halftime and pulled away to the 10-goal victory with a 7-3 second half.
St. Andrews travels north for a pair of non-conference games this weekend. The Knights first visit No. 7 Mercyhurst College (Erie, Pa.) on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. before traveling to Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Pa.) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
