THOMASVILLE, NC— Eryn McCaffrey of St. Andrews Presbyterian College (6-10 overall, 3-7 CVAC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) women’s lacrosse Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Freshman goalkeeper Eryn McCaffrey won three one-goal games in net for the St. Andrews women’s lacrosse team this week. McCaffrey had a .573 save percentage on the week to lead the Knights to victories against Averett (7-6) and CVAC foes Lees-McRae (9-8) and Belmont Abbey (13-12 OT). The Cicero, NY, native, who is ranked in the top-20 nationally in goals against and save percentage, has helped the Knights to four more wins than last year. McCaffrey’s saves in all three victories were critical as the Knights came back from behind in all three games.
The two crucial conference wins also thrust the Knights up the CVAC standings as they are currently in fifth place and awaiting a possible invitation to the CVAC Tournament Final Four.
