SAPC women's lacrosse competes in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, SC—Junior Corey Whitbeck (Newark, NY) scored two goals and provided an assist for St. Andrews Presbyterian College, but Millersville University won the non-conference women’s lacrosse match 17-3 at neutral Hilton Head High School on Sunday.

The Lady Marauders open the season 1-0 while the Knights fell to 1-6.

Millersville scored the first eight goals before Whitbeck put St. Andrews on the board with a free-position goal. The Marauders scored the final two goals of the half and held a 10-1 lead at halftime.

After a MU goal to start the second frame, Whitbeck scored her second free-position tally of the game. The Marauders went on a six goal run to take a big lead.

Freshman Kelsey Binggeli (Newark, NY) completed the Knights scoring with the final goal of the game. Binggeli found the back of the Marauders net on a Whitbeck feed.

Whitbeck’s two goals increased her season total to eight while Binggeli has a team-high 13.

Freshman goalkeeper Eryn McCaffrey (Cicero, NY) made 11 saves in net.

Amy Longenecker led Millersville with a hat trick and one assist. Liz Richmond also recorded a hat trick while Ashley Mazzie had two goals and an assist. Jackie Geiger tallied two goals and Joann Caminiti had a goal and a helper.

The Knights return home for a CVAC showdown with Lees-McRae on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
