GREENEVILLE, Tenn.—All four St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s golfers shaved at least 10 strokes off their first tournament totals as the Lady Knights finished ninth at the Tusculum Fall Classic at the Link Hills Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

The Knights, who only had the minimum of four golfers competing this week, improved their 36-hole total by 64 shots from their first tourney with a team score of 727.

Junior Alessandra Maurtua (Lima, Peru) led St. Andrews with rounds of 80 and 78 on the 5,804-yard, par-72 Link Hills layout. Maurtua’s 14-over par two-day total of 158 was good for a tie for seventh place out of 45 golfers.

Senior Laura Correia (Centerville, Mass.) had the biggest improvement for the Knights by cutting 21 strokes from her first collegiate tournament of the year. Correia signed scorecards of 85 and 89 for a total of 174.

Senior Sally McDaniel (Lowell, N.C.) made the biggest gain within the Tusculum Fall Classic for St. Andrews. McDaniel’s bounced back from an opening 99 with a 90 on Tuesday for a total of 189. Freshman Mariann Stark (Virginia Beach, Va.) concluded the Knights play with a 105-101—206.

St. Andrews will next compete in the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the River Hills Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, October 8-9.
