Lady Knights tee it up in the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

Final Results

LITTLE RIVER, S.C.—Sophomore Alessandra Maurtua (Lima, Peru) led the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s golf team with a pair of 81’s in the 2006 Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the River Hills Golf & Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Maurtua’s 18-over par total of 162 was good for a tie for 26th out of 93 golfers. Maurtua carded a nine-over 81 each day on the 5,809-yard, par-72 layout.

Senior Andrea Johnston (Chapel Hill, N.C.) improved by eight strokes on the second day to finish 63rd with a 91-83=174. Freshman Jessica Greenway (Laurinburg, N.C.) followed with a 110-101=211.

Nova Southeastern University won the team title by 18 strokes with a 36-hole total of 609 in 18-team event. Maria Garcia Austt led the Sharks to the victory after winning the individual medalist honors with a 74-72=146.

SAPC did not have a team total as only three members of this years squad competed this week (four needed).

The Lady Knights conclude the fall portion of their 2006-07 season in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational (hosted by Catawba College) at the Country Club of Salisbury on October 16-17.
