Lady Knights finish third at Fall Invitational September 26, 2006 WAGRAM, N.C.—Mount Olive College posted a pair of 359’s to win the 2006 St. Andrews Fall Invitational by 14 strokes over Limestone College with a 718 team total at the Deercroft Golf Club. Host St. Andrews finished third with a 757 total. Limestone sophomore Katie Clayton (Lyman, S.C.) edged St. Andrews sophomore Alessandra Maurtua ( Lima, Peru) by one stroke to win the individual title with a 36-hole total of 11-over par 155. Clayton was the only player in the 12-entrant field to post two rounds in the 70’s with a 77 and 78. Maurtua closed the overnight lead by Clayton with the low round of the tournament. After carding an 80 on Monday, Maurtua fired a four-over 76 to finish with a 156 total. Freshman Kristin Moberg (Gavle, Sweden) led the victorious Lady Trojans with a third place showing with an 81-86=167 (+23). Lady Knights senior Andrea Johnston (Chapel Hill, N.C.) improved by eight strokes in the second round to finish with a 99-91=190. Freshman Jessica Greenway (Laurinburg, N.C.) turned in a 95-109=204 while junior Laura Correia (Centerville, Mass.) finished with a 96-111=207.
