Day 1 Results
WAGRAM, N.C.—The Mount Olive College women’s golf team grabbed an eight-stroke lead after the first round of the 2006 St. Andrews Fall Invitational, posting a 359 total on the 6,075-yard, par-72 Deercroft Golf Club Monday. CVAC foes Limestone College and host St. Andrews Presbyterian College are both within striking distance at eight and 11 strokes back.
Kristin Moberg leads the front-running Lady Trojans with an opening nine-over 81.
Junior Katie Clayton (Lyman, S.C.) of Limestone has the overnight lead with the only round in the 70’s. Clayton turned in a five-over 77 to lead the 12-player field. The Lady Saints have a 367 total.
Sophomore Alessandra Maurtua (Lima, Peru) sits in second place to lead host St. Andrews with an opening eight-over 80. The Lady Knights are three strokes behind Limestone with a 370 total.
Freshman Jessica Greenway (Laurinburg, N.C.) posted a 95 in her first competitive collegiate round for SAPC while junior Laura Correia (Centerville, Mass.) and senior Andrea Johnston (Chapel Hill, N.C.) added rounds of 96 and 99, respectively.
The trio of teams will conclude the 36-hole tournament with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
