Knights Finish in the Middle of the Pack at UNC-W

Wilmington, NC- St. Andrews Women’s Cross Country took on a big endeavor as they went against many of the top runners in the area. The squad’s endurance allowed them to finish above four other teams in the final standings, as they took 7 th place as a team.

Senior Anna Egeln (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) again finished first for the Knights. Her time of 23:01.80 earned her a finish in the middle of the pack, 52 out of 97. Freshman Hanna Hinrichsmeyer (Sueltzal, Germany) proved she had what it took to keep pace as she finished right behind Egeln as number 53 (23:09.44).

The SA ladies stuck fairly close together throughout the race, as the Knights’ first and fifth place runners finished only one minute and 34 seconds apart. Sophomore Karlee Arnold (Columbia City, IN) took the middle slot for the Knights after finishing the race in 23:42.18 (59 th). Freshman Francoise Douala (Baltimore, MD) crossed the line 15 seconds after Arnold for 64 th (23:57.97). Sara Hackney, from Como, NC, rounded out the Knights’ finish when she nabbed the 71 st slot with a time of 24:35.75.

onference Carolinas runner Ericka Skinner (Barton College) easily grabbed first place (18:12.09) when she finished 25 seconds before Rachel Deline of Campbell University, who earned 2 nd place with a time of 18:37.81. Spreading out the top three finishes amongst the participating schools, UNCW’s Erin Brennan sprinted for a 3 rd place finish, also coming in under the 20 minute mark (18:57.52).
