Laurinburg, N.C.— The St. Andrews Cross Country program has announced a schedule of five races at locations throughout the Carolinas to prepare for the Conference Carolinas Championships on October 21.
The St. Andrews harriers hit the trail at Mount Olive College (Mount Olive, NC) for their first race of the 2011 season. The men’s and women’s teams will both run in all five events and the conference championships.
For the third straight year, St. Andrews will appear in the invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington. The Friday evening races will take place on September 9 with relatively young Knights squads being tested against primarily NCAA Division I opponents.
Making their way down the eastern seaboard,the Knights will be heading to South Carolina to run at the Citadel. Saturday, September 24, SAPC will be waiting for the gun to go off at 8:00 AM in historic Charleston.
The Knights will finish the regular season at Furman (Travelers Rest, SC). Saturday, October 8, at 8:00 AM the St. Andrews Men and Women will toe the line as they start their final race before the Conference Carolinas Championships.
Queens will again host the Conference Carolinas Championships at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. St. Andrews will be striving for another Conference Carolinas Championship title (2005 & 2008 Champs) on Friday, October 21.
Following the conference championships, the Knights hope to qualify for the NCAA Southeast Regional competition in early November and the NCAA D-II National Championships in the beginning of December.
