Trovato Earns ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Accolades

LAURINBURG, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College junior Alyson Trovato has been selected to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s track & field/cross country team announced on Thursday.

Trovato is a dual sport student-athlete at St. Andrews who competes on both the Lady Knights cross country and track & field teams. Trovato will automatically be nominated on the 2008 Academic All-America® ballot after being named to the District 3 College Division First Team.

Trovato became the first SAPC cross country runner to ever qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship in the fall of 2007 with a fourth place finish at last year’s Southeast Regional. Trovato was a First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Region honoree for the ’07 season becoming a two-time recipient of both awards. In her first two years at SAPC, Trovato has been named the conference Runner of the Week five times including an impress four times in 2007. Trovato has personal record times of 19:12 (5k) and 23:53 (6k).

Trovato also competes as a distance runner on the lady Knights track & field team. A pair of sixth place finishes in the 2008 Tri-Conference Bobcat Open highlighted Trovato’s track season. Trovato holds the SAPC school record in both the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter runs.

The Cedar Park, Texas native has been equally impressive in the classroom with a 3.97 GPA. Trovato was honored as a 2006 and 2007 USTFCCA All-Academic award recipient and has been a Dean’s List student-athlete both years at SAPC. Trovato is a member of Alpha Chi, the Drug Testing Revision Committee, and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

The nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.0 scale) in BOTH undergrad and graduate work. Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one academic year at your institution.
