THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Alyson Trovato has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week during week number six in the 2007 season.
This is the fourth week this year that Trovato has received this award. The junior continues to lead the St. Andrews women's cross country team to their best season.
Trovato posted her third straight time under 20 minutes in a 5k race for the season at the Hagan Stone Park Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning. Trovato finished the race in 19 minutes and 41 seconds to finish eighth overall out of 136 total runners. Trovato was the third fastest runner in the field out of non-Division I opposition. She once again was the top Conference Carolinas and Southeast Region runner in the 15 team field.
The Cedar Park, Texas native has recorded three straight top-10 finishes and has been the top league runner in all four of SAPC's races this year. The Knights finished third overall out of 15 teams and ahead of all regional foes (Pfeiffer, St. Augustine's, Barton, and Mount Olive).
St. Andrews next competes in the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, October 20.
