THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College ’s Alyson Trovato has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week during week number five in the 2007 season.
This is the third week this year that Trovato has received this award and the third week she was the top Conference Carolinas runner in the field. Trovato posted a personal record (PR) on Saturday morning leading the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's cross country team to a third place finish out of 11 colleges in The Citadel Invitational.
The junior crossed the 5k course at James Island County Park in an impressive 19 minutes and 12 seconds. The Cedar Park, Texas natives time of 19:12 was good for second place out of 89 non-division I runners and more impressively fourth overall out of 141 total entrants in the DI hosted event. Trovato beat her 5k PR by 24 seconds to once again finish ahead of all Conference Carolinas runners.
Trovato and the St. Andrews cross country teams, who are ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region, will next compete at the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic in Greensboro, N.C. on Saturday morning.
