THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College ’s Alyson Trovato has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week during week number three in the 2007 season.
This is the second consecutive week that Trovato has received this award and the second consecutive week she was the top Conference Carolinas runner in a deep race field. The Cedar Park, TX junior finished sixth out of 114 runners at the Wingate Invitational with a blazing time of 24:57 on the extended 6k course. Trovato was the top finisher out of participants from six Conference Carolinas schools. Trovato's strong showing also helped St. Andrews to the top Conference Carolinas team result at Wingate ahead of Pfeiffer, Limestone, Coker, and Erskine.
Trovato was also the second fastest harrier out of all Southeast Region runners. Four of the five runners that beat Trovato were from No. 19 nationally ranked Alabama-Huntsville.
Trovato and the St. Andrews cross country teams will next compete in The Citadel Invitational at the James Island County Park in Charleston, S.C. on Saturday, September 29th. The men’s 8k starts at 9:00 a.m. while the women’s 5k race is slated for a 9:45 a.m. start.
