THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College ’s Alyson Trovato has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas women's cross country Runner of the Week during week number two in the 2007 season.
The junior from Cedar Park, Texas was the top Conference Carolinas runner, helping pace St. Andrews Presbyterian College to a seventh place finish in the women’s collegiate 5K race at the 2007 Eye Opener Cross Country Meet at the Roger Milliken Research Park on Saturday morning. Trovato finished 12th overall out of 165 NCAA Division II harriers to lead the Lady Knights. Trovato was the only endurance runner out of nine Conference Carolinas teams to break the 20-minute mark with a time of 19:36. Trovato was also the third fastest finisher out of Southeast Region entrants.
Trovato and the St. Andrews cross country teams next compete at the Wingate Invitational on Saturday, September 15. The women’s 6k race starts at 9:15 a.m. while the men’s 10k race is slated for a 10:00 a.m. start.
