THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Alyson Trovato of St. Andrews Presbyterian College has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) women’s cross country Runner of the Week.
Sophomore transfer Alyson Trovato led the St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s cross country team to a second place finish out of 15 teams at the Wingate Invitational on Saturday with a 10 th place finish out of 112 runners. In her first 6k race for the Lady Knights, Trovato finished the Southeast Pre-Regional course in 25:00 minutes. Trovato crossed the finish line ahead of all CVAC runners helping SAPC finish first out of five conference schools. The Lady Knights, who were picked preseason ninth in the CVAC coaches’ poll, are currently ranked No. 5 in the Southeast Region thanks in part to Trovato’s fast times.
Trovato and the Lady Knights will next travel to Greensboro, N.C., for the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic on Saturday, September 30.
