Cobras Slither by Women's Basketball January 10, 2012 The Knights have aimed to improve their offense as they started conference play last week, scoring 62 against the Royals of Queens University of Charlotte last week and just missing the 60 point mark tonight against the Cobras. Leading SAU, Brittany Roberts (Concord, NC) put up 15 this evening, going 5-8 from the field and 5-8 from the foul line. Two more Knights, Rachel Hewitt (Kokomo, IN) and Beneé Norton (Atlanta, GA), also scored in the double-digits against Coker. Hewitt trailed Roberts by one as she added 14 for the ‘Drew, including an 85.7 free-throw percentage. Norton contributed 10 for the Knights by sinking three jumpers and shooting 57% at the line. Overall, the ladies pulled down a 63.3 free-throw percentage this evening, but had to be careful not to foul under the net as Coker went an impressive 94.4% from the line. SAU junior Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, NC) stayed strong under the basket and grabbed a team high of seven defensive rebounds and one offensive rebound. St. Andrews will have a couple of days off before their next competition. The ladies will hit the practice courts and prepare to battle the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College on Saturday, January 14, at St. Andrews. Jump ball will be tossed at 2:00 PM, so be sure to swing by Harris Court for an afternoon of Conference Carolinas basketball. -GO KNIGHTS-
