Knights Fall to Bears at Harris Court

Laurinburg, NC- As classes concluded for the fall semester, the St. Andrews women’s basketball team stayed on campus to host the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University for the last women’s basketball game of 2011. Facing a very quick squad from LR, the Knights found themselves behind the Bears as the game ended with a final score of 88-33; leaving the SAU ladies with a non-conference record of 0-7.

Leading the Knights, Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, NC) posted nine points and nine rebounds for SAU, missing a double-double by one point and one rebound. Fulcher went 100% at the free throw line, while the Knights shot 63.64% from the line as a team.

Senior Rebecca Bryant (Cincinnati, OH) pulled down the second highest number of rebounds with four, as the ladies fought for 30 total rebounds. Bryant also tied for the second highest total points in tonight’s game as she, Rachel Hewitt (Kokomo, IN), and Angeline Domingo-Francois (Burtonsville, MD) each put up six points for the ‘Drew.

Fulcher and Domingo-Francois worked for the SAU defense as they both earned two blocks this evening, helping to slow the Bears’ offense. While Hewitt grabbed two steals to add to the St. Andrews defense, with Bryant using her quick hands to put another steal in the books for SAU.

The ladies will take a couple of weeks off and get some much needed rest during the Christmas break before they return to play in January 2012. Conference Carolinas play will begin in January, with the first game being held on January 3 at 5:30 PM. The Knights will host the Falcons of Pfeiffer University for their first conference game of the season.
