Murfreesboro, NC- It was a tough night for SAU women’s basketball yesterday as they faced constant defensive pressure from the Hawks of Chowan University. The ladies came together and worked hard to slow down the Hawks for the final 14:00 minutes of the game; only allowing them to score 14 points, while the Knights added 24 to finish with a final score of 84-57 as SAU fell to 0-4 overall.

Sophomore Angeline Domingo-Francois (Burtonsville, MD) stood her ground under the basket last night for SAU. Adding seven points for the Knights, Domingo-Francois drove to the hoop and found herself with a 5-8 record at the foul line by the end of the evening. In addition to her point contributions, this SAU Defensive Player of the Game grabbed eight defensive rebounds, on her way to nine total rebounds and also earned a steal for the Knights.

Atlanta, Georgia, native Beneé Norton was on fire offensively last night. Norton put up 10 points from the field and added six more from the line, where she shot 75% yesterday. Norton barely missed a double-double once again as her 16 total points and nine rebounds left her one rebound shy of the statistical achievement. Her outstanding play earned her the accolade of Offensive Player of the Game for the St. Andrews squad.

The Knights did their best to stay in the game and keep up with the Hawks. Brittany Roberts (Concord, NC) picked up three steals and put up five points for the ‘Drew, while Rebecca Bryant (Cincinnati, OH) made three from the field and three from the free-throw line en route to a total of nine points. Karin Law (Washington, DC) and Kimayah Fulcher (New Bern, NC) scored nine and eight respectively, with teammate Rachel Hewitt (Kokomo, IN) throwing a team high of three assists last night.

Women’s basketball will play at Harris Court on Saturday, December 3, at 4:00 PM. The Broncos of Fayetteville State will make their way to St. Andrews for an exciting evening of basketball. Remember to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys-For-Tots collection box that will be located at the entrance to Harris Court.

-GO KNIGHTS-
